As you may know, PrimalScript 4.0 used an online-unlocktechnique, meaning that PrimalScript needed to communicate with a SAPIENTechnologies server in order to register itself and unlock the trial. Thissystem was put into place to help discourage software piracy, which costsSAPIEN Technologies a great deal of income each year. However, the systemproved to cause more problems than we’d hoped: Due to the proxyconfigurations inside many of our customers’ organizations, onlineunlocking didn’t always work well, creating a less-than-desirableexperience for our legitimate customers.
As a result, PrimalScript 4.1 will no longer use anonline-unlock policy for activation. PrimalScript will still require a licensekey in order to unlock the trial, but no communication with SAPIEN servers willbe required to use the product. We still encourage customers to register theirproduct, and upon unlocking the trial, a customer’s default Web browserwill open to the product registration page. Registration enables us to providecustomer support and a number of other useful functions, but it will now takeplace entirely within a Web browser, rather than from within PrimalScriptitself.
We’re committed to providing the best experiencepossible for our customers, and we hope that this new unlock scheme is a bigstep in the right direction. Don’t forget that PrimalScript 4.1 will be afree upgrade to all registered4.0 users for 60 days from the date 4.1 is released!
