File History: “Source Control” included in PrimalScript 4.1

PrimalScript has had source control integration for a long, long time – you could “hook” it into existing source-control solutions that were compatible with Microsoft’s source control API (e.g., Microsoft SourceSafe and others). That capability continues in PrimalScript 4.1 (and we’re even looking to add compatibility with selected other source control APIs).However, for folks just working in a “team of one,” a full source control solution may not be practical. However, the benefits of source control – being able to view past versions of a file – are still desireable, so PrimalScript 4.1 is adding a new “file history” feature that essentially saves off past versions of your scripts. At any time, you can summon up the “File History” dialog and retrieve a past version of a file. It’s like a super-undo, and combined with PrimalScript’s already massive, persistent undo capability and Recycle Bin, it means you can almost always retrieve past code if you need to.This is another newly-announced PrimalScript 4.1 feature; others are documented at www.primalscript.com/psnextpreview.asp and include extensive Windows PowerShell support, live syntax checking, and a very cool “to do” list.See the attached screen shot for a preview.
