The subscription model for our products was discontinued effective January 22, 2024. Active subscriptions will remain active until canceled or terminated for non-payment. If you want to transfer your subscription to a perpetual license or have questions, please contact sales@sapien.com.
Switching licensing models is always confusing for everyone, but don’t worry, we have you covered. We will carefully explain all of your options and help you find the best way to use our software.
If you ever run into a problem, we are always here to help. Just give us a call or send an email to sales@sapien.com.
If you already have a license under active maintenance (meaning you can access new builds), you do not need to do anything right now.
Let’s lay out the differences between a subscription and a perpetual license:

*Subscriptions, once activated, can be used offline for up to five days. So if you travel and do not have internet for a while, you will be ok.
Some people or organizations prefer perpetual licenses, while others prefer subscriptions. Subscriptions have a lower monthly cost; perpetual licenses cost more but are yours to keep.
If you work more often than not in an offline environment, are required to purchase through a reseller, or if you can not use a credit or debit card, subscriptions are likely not for you.
What is the better value for you? That depends.
Are you always using the software, and do you want to always be on the latest and greatest version? Then subscriptions are for you.
Do you want to have access to the software after you cancel your subscription? If so, a perpetual license will be a better fit.
Does your boss balk at a few hundred dollars for a license but is okay with $20 a month? A subscription is probably a better choice for you.
If you have an old license, say from 2012, and you want to get in on the latest version, a subscription is a good way to do that.
Do you have multiple users for the software and a fair amount of turnover? Either option works in this case since Activation Keys are managed in the same way.
Are you constantly struggling to co-term licenses so that everyone is on the same maintenance schedule? Subscriptions are automatically co-termed upon purchase through our online store.
Are you worried about money? A PowerShell Studio subscription is less than a Venti Caffe Latte a week. (California pricing that is. If you do not know what a ‘Venti Latte’ is, please enjoy your coffee.)
