Does it seem like we’re not posting much? Yeah, we’ve been a bit quiet. But for good reason! We’ve been working on a lot of stuff, been traveling a lot, and the holidays are of course in full swing so we occassionally err on the side of spending time with the families :).
SAPIEN is just back from Windows Connections (where we co-sponsored two days of PowerShell training) and Microsoft TechEd IT Forum (in Barcelone), where we exhibited and met hundreds of extremely enthusiastic admins working with PowerShell.
Windows PowerShell v1.0: TFM, 2nd Edition has been available as an ebook for a couple of weeks, but the print version should be available soon – we’re just waiting on the index to be completed, which is a pretty time-consuming process (think about it: Would you want to read the entire book picking out keywords?). We’re also busily working on Exchange Management Shell: TFM (one of the Exchange MVPs out of Belgium is writing this one) and getting started on a PowerShell-focused book for Active Directory management. Deets at www.SAPIENPress.com as they become available – I should have a preview of the Exchange book online this week.
www.PowerShellCommunity.org is in full swing (we’ve shut down the PowerShell forums on ScriptingAnswers.com in favor of this new Web site), and we’ve added a lot of features. There are now Wikis for FAQs and PSH best practices (with contributions from the PowerShell team at Microsoft), full-on discussion forums, several directories to help you find cmdlets, products, events, and whatnot, and a lot more. It’s been a lot of work, but it’s coming together nicely.
Back at SAPIEN, we’ve been hard at work creating several resource kits, which are now detailed at www.PrimalScript.com (look on the Products menu). These kits include books, ebooks, tools, software, training videos, and more, and there are three to choose from. Don’t delay, buy today <grin>! We’ve also revised www.SAPIEN.com to be more in line with the new appearance on our product sites.
Finally, DO YOU NEED SOME POWERSHELL TRAINING? I know you do. C’mon, you know it too. www.ScriptingTraining.com, sign up, and get an iPod nano (use referral code BLOGPOD – I’m taking this offer offline really soon, though, I swear). Come visit me in Las Vegas for five days of PowerShell goodness. We’ll treat you to a FANTASTIC dinner one night at one of my favorite restaurants, and even give you the option of a second amazing dinner combined with a light seminar on using PrimalScript more effectively (we figure by building these great dinners into the class price, you can have a great experience without cutting into that oh-so-generous per diem you’re allocated). Plus, our Classroom Concierge will make sure you’re “hooked up” for any shows or other great restaurants you might want to experience. We really do show you a good time, and the learning is absolutely top-notch. This all takes place in March, and the last two times we held a class we had to cut off registration ‘cuz the room filled up – don’t let that happen to you. Register early!
Oh-kay – that’s a wrap. Hopefully you’re gearing up for the hollerdays yourself and won’t mind that we’ve gone a bit lazy on the blogging this month. We’ll be back in full swing before long. Oh, and have you checked out the blogs on www.PowerShellCommunity.org? That’s where both Jeff and I have been blogging PowerShell tidbits and whatnot, so be sure to add those to your RSS list.
And one last hint: You know, for the last 2-3 years, SAPIEN has always done some TRULY INSANE 24-hour sale over New Year’s Eve. Like, mega-cheap pricing on some cool product like PrimalScript. Not saying it’ll happen this year – just saying that, if it does, you’ll hear about it here. Subscribe.
