I’m always curious as to what brings folks to different conferences. Right now, IT Pros in the US have a few basic choices: Microsoft TechEd, Microsoft Management Summit (MMS), Windows Connections, and TechMentor. Which of these – if any – do you attend, or would you attend? Why? I know some folks like to hear the “offical word” at a Microsoft show, while others prefer the “real deal” that non-Microsoft presenters can share – what makes you want to go to a particular conference? Or, if you never want to go to a conference – why for? What would conferences have to do differently in order to earn your attendance?

Corporate policy lately is that "conferences" are out for budgeting reasons. I still try to find ways to try to get to a show though.
Currently, my interests are in PowerShell, and more specifically advanced stuff (development, etc.).
Seems TechEd is the best place for such dev-related stuff, so I’m already trying to plan how I can justify TechEd 2008 in Orlando.
I would love to go to MMS. I think meeting with so many people who do the same thing I do would be great. Where I live, SMS, scripting and packaging are lonely, lonely jobs. Plus, learning new things from the big-brains would be helpful as well. I don’t go now because of small (crippling) fear of flying. If any major conferences were in driving distance in the Northeast, I would really love to go.
