(Updated) New PowerShell Book: Early Reviewer Program

Are you interested in getting a sneak peek at the new PowerShell book that I’m working on? Would you like to influence the final content of the book? Would you like a free copy of the final product? We’re accepting a limited number of folks into our Early Reviewer program for the new title (which, as yet, as no title). But, there are some caveats: Read on.

First, you will need to apply by filling out a short survey at http://surveys.sapien.com/poll.asp?z=1. Please take time to consider each of your answers. For most of the questions, there is no “wrong” answer; we’re merely looking to get a good cross-section of experience levels in the reviewer poll.

Before you apply, though, you need to know abot some requirements:

  • You will be required to sign and fax back a nondisclosure agreement (NDA).
  • If accepted, you will be asked to review a dozen or more chapters. Typically you’ll get 2-3 chapters in a week, and will need to read them and provide feedback by the end of the week.
  • “Provide feedback” means completing a one- or two-page feedback form, including detailed comments. You may provide even more detailed comments if required, but your feedback is only useful if it’s pretty detailed – we don’t want “looks good” coming back on these forms, because we can’t really act on that.
  • Failure to honor the above committments will result in you being dropped from the program prior to its completion.
  • Individuals who remain with the program through to completion—that is, those who are providing solid feedback in a timely fashion—will be acknowledged in the final manuscript and will receive a complimentary copy of the published book.

So if all of the above sounds good to you, hop over today and fill out that survey. We’ll leave it open for about a month, and then we’ll select our participants and notify everybody. We may even start sending our review chapters early, so the earlier you complete the survey, the better your chance of getting into the Early Reviewer program!

[Update]
I’ve had a number of folks say they’d love to participate, but just aren’t experience enough with PowerShell. That’s the whole point! We’re looking for a cross-section of readers, including those with little or no PowerShell experience – those reviewers are the ones who’ll tell us if the book is doing a good job for beginners (there is “beginner” material planned for this new title). So if you’ve been holding off – hop over and take the survey.
