Happy Holidays!
That time of year has arrived again where visions of sugar plums dance in our heads. Or maybe that was 25 years ago at some of those parties I used to attend. In any case, the holidays are here and at my advanced age I start getting a bit sentimental and start thinking about all of the things that I am grateful for, etc.
Now it goes without saying (but I am going to say it anyway) that I am grateful for family, friends, a successful business and all of the great people here at SAPIEN that have helped make that possible. But enough of the sappy stuff! Here are some of the things I am REALLY grateful for.
PrimalScript 4.1 with PowerShell support: You didn?t think you were going to get to read this without some blatant plug for a SAPIEN product, did you? In any case, I think PowerShell is way cool. Recognizing what PowerShell is now, and what it can/will be in the future, is very exciting. The wheels are spinning and the cogs are churning (do cogs churn or is that a mixed metaphor?) In any case, expect to see lots of cool new stuff coming out of SAPIEN to support this exciting new technology.
Smaller computers: I recently bought a Samsung Q1. I love this thing! It is a full blow Windows XP machine with tablet technology. It has a 7? screen. I carry it with me all of the time. I can check and ignore my email, settle drinking bets immediately by searching the web, listen to tunes and watch videos while driving, run Microsoft Trips and Streets connected to my GPS so I can find my way home after a long night settling bets and basically do almost everything I do on my BIG computer. I will probably get the Stowaway Universal Bluetooth Keyboard, or maybe it will show up in my stocking this Xmas, to use when I am traveling on business so I can actually answer my email.
Media PCs ? I love having all of my ?media? in one convenient system. Recently I took the time to rip all of my CDs to my media server at home. Along with that, I also record my TV shows on that system and have all of my digital photographs available there as well. The media server is a Windows XP pro machine with 3 TV tuner inputs and an FM receiver. I run BeyondTV 4.5 for watching and recording TV and BeyondMedia for listening to my CDs etc. The system is super stable and has high wife appeal.
Digital cameras: In another lifetime, I was a commercial photographer. I used to photograph weddings, parties and did some commercial print work. Film was great but I am a TOTAL digital convert. I love the freedom it gives not only in capturing the image, but also with tools like Photoshop CS2 and the upcoming Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, I can have total control over the final product.
Holodeck Technology: Oh, wait, that?s not this year?
All kidding aside, I am much more grateful for the fact that I am healthy, have a great family, love my job, and am surrounded by wonderful people. I sincerely wish these blessings on all of you out there in the blog-o-sphere, and hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.
Best wishes!
