Don Jones to revise VBScript book

SAPIEN Technologies’ Don Jones has inked a deal with publisher Addison-Wesley to revise Don’s popular Managing Windows with VBScript and WMI. The original book has been a scripting bestseller, including making Bookpool.com’s “Most Loved Books of 2004.” The new revision will be published under a new title and Addison-Wesley series: Windows Administrative Scripting Unleashed: Automating Windows Administration with VBScript, WMI, and ADSI.In addition to completely revising and updating the existing content – including replacing all sample scripts with new ones and doubling the number of samples in the book – Don will be adding new information on debugging techniques, ways to be a more efficient scripter, and much more. All-new information on WMI and ADSI will be included, as well as an introduction to HTML Applications and a tutorial on creating standalone command-line utilities in VBScript. The entire VBScript Tutorial willbe reworked to address common “sticking points” for new learners. The new revision will be perfect for someone with absolutely no experience, and will be of continued interest to intermediate scripters, as well.SAPIEN Technologies believes that VBScript will continue to be a powerful and relied-upon administrative technology in years to come, and has committed to not only supporting VBScript indefinitely, but also extending VBScript’s reach and capabilities. SAPIEN now offers the first-ever technical support for scripts you write, called My Own Scripts Support, available as per-incident units through www.ScriptingOutpost.com. The revision of Don’s book is further evidence that VBScript is alive and well, and that new administrators every day are starting to learn VBScript to make Windows administration easier and more efficient.Look for Windows Administrative Scripting Unleashed sometime in the third quarter of 2007.
