Curious about PrimalScript 4.1 features?

A few have already been announced at our preview site, http://www.primalscript.com/psnextpreview.asp. So far, most of the lineup will be available in all editions of PrimalScript, and remember that 4.1 upgrades will be free to all 4.0 users (also remember that there will be no upgrade pricing from 3.x versions, so hop up to 4.0 today). Here’s the current new feature set:

  • Windows PowerShell support, including PrimalSense
  • To-Do list automatically generated from comments (this will likely appear only in the Enterprise Edition)
  • Live syntax checking for selected languages
  • Enhanced PrimalSense which will, when possible, pop-up code completion after typing just four characters – meaning it’ll help complete language syntax as well as the current elements like arguments and so forth
  • Source control integration support for selected non-Microsoft source control systems (CVS and Subversion are currently planned and under evaluation)

Of course, a raft of the usual performance enhancements and, where appropriate bug fixes will also be rolled into 4.1. And this isn’t necessarily the complete list, either – this is just what the developers are working on so far. We’ll continue to announce new features as they get underway.

And when will PrimalScript 4.1 be done? “When it’s ready,” of course – the PowerShell support is very important to us, so we definitely won’t ship before PowerShell does, though. We know the PowerShell team is working hard to “get it right” and we want to do the same!
