How to add an alternate storage path?

Post by bfaria9001 »

To help you better we need some information from you.

*** Please fill in the fields below. If you leave fields empty or specify 'latest' rather than the actual version your answer will be delayed as we will be forced to ask you for this information. ***

Product, version and build: Version Recall, v1.8.171
Operating system: W 11 Ent - 22H2
PowerShell version(s): 5.1.22621.1778

*** Please add details and screenshots as needed below. ***

Hello,
I am following the online documentation on creating a Repository, but as stated in the online manual: https://info.sapien.com/manuals/version ... erepo.html
I am on a laptop and would like an alternate path option if I can not reach the server.
I do not see this as an available option in the creation window.
Is this a setting I have to enable?

Please advise,
Best Regards,
Bruno F

Alex,

Thanks for the prompt response!
As a question in your pictured example, you have E:\, H:\, \\littlefella, \\andromeda. In that order from top to bottom.
Does that mean that E:\ will get the submission first, then if it can't find the drive, H:\, etc?
And so forth; if so, how do you get submissions to publish to the file share?
As for me, I would also like the following done too.

I understand E and/or H could be mounted network drives themselves, but if they were external drives, again, how would I skip/dual publish them?

Best Regards,

The properties dialog enables you to specify as many locations as you like. The order is of little consequence. This is more of a convenience for you to put the most used ones up top. If you look at the screenshot, above the "Submit Folder" button is a combobox.
You select the repository you want to use there. I have multiple for testing, in a more common use you have
\\server\whatnot\repository\whoIam
D:\TravelBackup\Repositories

At home you connect to Server. While traveling, it tries to connect to that and it is offline, so all your files will show "Offline"
Switch to the D: drive thing with a USB drive connected and it will use that as a repository.
I generally suggest that once you are back to your main location you do another submit all.

You can also submit to location a), flip to location b) and submit again if you like. This is very individual.
This does not submit to all specified locations at once or in order. Always only to the one you set as active.
