Obfuscating the executable breaks it

Post by DanielLeber »

Product: PowerShell Studio 2023 (64 Bit)
Build: v5.8.221
OS: Windows 10 Education (64 Bit)
Build: v10.0.19044.0

Hi,
I'm working on a PS project that I created with PowerShell Studio 5.8.219.0
I have compiled the script to an executable and enabled the function "Obfuscate PowerShell Files".
After the update to the new PowerShell Studio version 5.8.220.0, a part of the script works only if "Obfuscate PowerShell Files" is disabled
Is this function still an experimentation function or can it be a bug?

I'll have to check with the team to see whether this is still an experimental feature.
In the meantime, can you upload your script here for us to better evaluate the issue:

It is most certainly a bug, since it obfuscates code to not work properly :D
It is still considered experimental. We did not receive a lot of feedback on this so far.
If you could upload your script or at the very least extracted parts that are not functional after obfuscation, that would be very much appreciated.

Thank you for submitting your files. We have replicated the problem here and will roll out a fix in one of the next service builds.
In the meantime we can only recommend to turn of obfuscation for this particular project.

Can you please post the error message you receive when obfuscating here?

Service build 5.8.227 included some fixes for our experimental obfuscation option in SAPIEN Script Packager. Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues.
