Post by theotherkidd »

To help you better we need some information from you.

*** Please fill in the fields below. If you leave fields empty or specify 'latest' rather than the actual version your answer will be delayed as we will be forced to ask you for this information. ***

Product, version and build: Powershell Studio 2019
32 or 64 bit version of product: 64 bit
Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise Version 1709
32 or 64 bit OS: 64 bit

After receiving a new laptop, I installed PowerShell Studio 2019. It installs successfully, but after every reboot or login, PowerShell Studio starts to install all over again. See attached

That's generally a sign that Windows Installer things the process was not finished and needs finishing up after a reboot. Since PowerShell Studio has nothing that requires a reboot, that makes it look like it is starting again.
I would recommend to completely uninstall. Reboot, then install again with nothing else running (just in case).
If it persists, please let us know.

Hey Alexander,

No go. Even after uninstalling and rebooting, PowerShell Studio is attempting to reinstall. This happens after every reboot and after every login.

Check these keys in RegEdit - Start - type in Search box - Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

In the RIGHT PANE of those keys there should be nothing except the "Default"

I only see default in the right hand side of these keys. I don't have the runonceex key

Look in task manager in the startup tab
if nothing stands out, disable all, reboot. If it stops, enable one by one and see which one causes it.
If it doesn't stop it's someplace else in Windows. Unfortunately MSI being stuck can have a number of causes.

Looks like the issue was with my profile. After deleting my profile, the issue went away. Thanks all.
