Cannot install on Windows 10 Enterprise

Post by FrankAndrew »

Product, version and build: PrimalSQL 2016/2017/2018/2019
32 or 64 bit version of product: 32 & 64 bit
Operating system:Windows 10 Enterprise, 1709.846 Build 16299
32 or 64 bit OS: 64 bit

I am getting the following error message when installing PrimalSQL on Windows 10 Enterprise:
(It does NOT matter which version I am trying to install, 32bit or 64 bit, or version 4,2,53 (2016) through version 4.5.66 (2019))
(I only tried the versions older than 2019 to see if any of them happened to work, they don't same exact error)

Here are the possible place where your installation program maybe trying to get this path information from:
Possible_Variables_that_are_being_used.jpg

As you can see these paths are LONGER than what is being displayed in the error messages. The program WILL NOT have rights in these higher directories because the user does not get those rights at that level.
ALL other SAPIEN products install on the same exact System without ANY Problems :-)
Have a Happy New Year, hope to hear from you then :-)

Please run the installer with logging:

Code: Select all

Installer.exe /exenoui /qn /L*v .\Install.log
Please zip and upload the log here:

https://www.sapien.com/support/upload

You should be able to see what paths the installer uses in the log file.

Please verify the parameters. When you use /exenoui /qn /L*v parameters, the log should be much more verbose.

I don't know what went wrong yesterday with the log file creation. I could NOT reproduce the smaller log file.
But the bigger complete one is now uploaded.

Here are some possibilities:

1. It doesn't detect that the root folder exists.
2. It doesn't have necessary permissions to create the sub folders.

Please try manually creating this folder:

Code: Select all

\\LAN\HOME\HOME-AE\AP527ADM\Daten\SAPIEN\Queries\
Then run the installer again with logging and see if it still produces an error.

Note that other products, like PowerShell Studio, do not create a folder in My Documents during install.

Unfortunately, we do not control this process, because it is handled by Windows Installer.
We modified the installer for the next service release, so that it no longer created the folder in My Documents. Hopefully this will resolve your issue.

OK.
When this is release I will let you know as soon as I have tested it.
You modified this for both the 64bit & 32bit versions right?
