Trial Install Error

Post by PSCanada »

Tried installing Powershell Studio 2015 (64-bit version 4.2.81.0) on a virtual server running Server 2008 R2 64 Bit. And got the attached error message.

I am running VMWare Player and the guest OS does not have access to the internet. Does the install require internet access?

The installer does not require internet access. Do you get the same error if you try to install our other products?

You are probably missing a root certificate to trust our code signatures.

The installer itself doesn't require internet access, but this is Windows trying to verify the certificate of the installer. Since this server is offline, changes are that the root certificates aren't up to date.

1. You can try updating the root certificates.
or
2. You can try the following as a workaround:

Go to Control Panel->Internet Options.

Select the Advanced Tab and scroll down to the security section and check the "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid" option.

Then try installing the software. After installing, you can uncheck the option.

We lock down IE control panel for our images, working to get the check box checkable at the moment...

Okay, box is checked... Still fails with certificate error... :(

Looks like I will have to try updating the Root Certificates.... What a pain, it would be nice if the software could check to see what certificates were missing and let you know where to get them...

Many reasons can cause this. Sometimes security software can prevent the install or a bad hard disk.

1. Try installing another product and see if you get the same error.

2. Try installing the same software on another clean machine.

Note: We have not received reports about this issue for other users and we test our installers on various OS's before releasing.
