    How do I try this out? I downloaded and installed the trial 2016. Everytime I launch it it asked me to put a trial key in. If i hit cancel it doesn't do anything

    From your wording I assume you run this on a virtual machine and get prompted for a Virtual Machine trial key.
    There is a button "Get Trial key...", just above the "Cancel" button, which cancels and tells the application you do not want to do this.
    If you do not see this "Get Trial key..." button, the you have a regular trial dialog, in which case the "Continue" button would be the one to press.
