WMI Explorer does not show all classes

Post by scott.furr »

We use SCCM in our environment and I want to browse through the ROOT\CCM classes but not all of them show up. I do not have any filters in place and I'm connected to my local machine.

One example is .\Root\ccm\ClientSDK

I can query through PowerShell and see this class. I even downloaded a free WMI explorer and it shows up there as well, but for some reason, it does not show up in WMI Explorer 2014 or 2015.

Under the CCM class alone, WMI Explorer 2015 is missing 9 classes that show up in the other free WMI explorer tool.

I've run into this issue of missing classes several times with this software. This is just one example. Is there a setting I'm missing? Is there a reason for this?

I am running build 2.2.53
64-bit version
OS is Windows 8.1 64-bit

Post by SAPIEN Support Forums »

This is an automated post. A real person will respond soon.

Thank you for posting, scott.furr.

Did you remember to include the following?
  • 1. Product, version and build (e.g. Product: WMI Explorer 2014, Version & Build: 2.0.45. Version and build information can be found in the product's About box accessed by clicking the blue icon with the 'i' in the upper right hand corner of the ribbon.)
    2. Specify if you are running a 32 or 64 bit version
    3. Specify your operating system and if it is 32 or 64 bit.
    4. Attach a screenshot if your issue can be seen on the screen
    5. Attach a zip file if you have multiple files (crash reports, log entries, etc.) related to your issue.
If not, please take a moment to edit your original post or reply to this one.

Please provide details on what we need to install to replicate this.
Most likely WMI threw an exception during the query process.

To replicate, you would need to install the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 client

Yo said there are other classes missing. Any of them in standard namespaces?

ROOT\cimv2\power

WMI Explorer 2015 is missing Win32_PowerSettingCapabilities

PowerShell and the other free tool I have shows this class.

There is actually a discrepancy of 9 classes between the two tools under ROOT\cimv2\power
