Change printing from Queue to IP printer

Post by Raulmadrid »

Hi guys,

I am
looking for a solution for the following problem. We have worldwide thousands
of users, who prints to a printer configured on a printserver (printqueue). We
want to remove the printservers, and want to print directly to the printer by
IP.

Is it possible
to achieve this by script. For example.

User prints
to printer printserver1printer1
and printserver1printer2

That 2
printers have an IP address of course and how can I make a script which detects
on a client the used networkprinters (local printers can be totally skipped by
this script) and changes this for the user to print directly to the IP address
of the desired printer, in this case the PRINTER1 and PRINTER2.

Hopefully
you guys can help me out, as we run out of time (deadline).

Many, many
thanks in advance for any kind of help.
