I am using PSQL 4.1.39 x64 on Windows 7 x64.
When I pull up a query that connects to the Oracle server, the browser starts is "walk" through all the DB's and tables and is overloading the server. Is there a way to stop or limit this behavior? There are a lot of db's and tables on this server and it takes too long for that process to complete on top what it is doing to the server.

Re: Hammering Oracle server
By the browser, do you mean the query build or the Database Browser panel that shows all the databases?
You could open a SQL Text Document and that should load faster than the Query builder.
If there isn't a cache of the metadata the Database Browser will attempt to build one. You can reduce the time it takes to build the cache by making sure the following option is un-checked:
Options->Panels->Database Browser->Cache All Fields
But once the cache is made it should not build it again unless you instruct it to.

Re: Hammering Oracle server
Yes I mean the database browser that I am referring too and I am loading a previous text query a *.sql file and when I do the browser gets the spinning circle icon.
Also, both items under database browser are un-checked. I have always had this issue, but this is the first time I get a call from the dba complaining about what it's doing to the server.

Re: Hammering Oracle server
It should only query the tables, but if they are so many, then yes it can take a while.
I will add a wish list request for an option to prevent caching.
