Connecting to oracle

Post by huntsecker »

How do I connect to an oracle database ? the database in question is at someAddress:1521/test . I've added the limited available options into the create connection and I get system.data.oracleclient requires oracle client software version 8.17 or greater.

I have the instant client in my system path as well as oracle_home I see 0 options to specify the client location, for a commercial product it's not very intuitive.

please update me with the steps required so I can connect to a oracle 11g database.
Thanks
Tom.

should mention im on the latest 64bit version(4.0.25). on windows 7 professional

Some database providers on machines maybe 32 bit only. I would recommend installing the 32 bit version of PrimalSQL and see if you continue to get the error.
