Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Post by kenknicker »

I am running PowerShell Studio 2015 v4.2.79 64-bit which is installed on Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Upgraded from 4.2.78 today. Been working fine and the issue I reported yesterday seems to be gone. However, just a few min. ago a new issue started popping up when I try to open a specific script file.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
I can email the script to you if you'd like. Please let me know. In the meantime perhaps I should downgrade to PowerShell Studio 2014.

*EDIT* The error message originally popped up while I was actively working in a file and it provided a stack trace. This edit is to attach the text from the stack trace. I'll send the script copy to support when you guys pick this up.

    2. Specify if you are running a 32 or 64 bit version
    3. Specify your operating system and if it is 32 or 64 bit.
    4. Attach a screenshot if your issue can be seen on the screen
    5. Attach a zip file if you have multiple files (crash reports, log entries, etc.) related to your issue.
If not, please take a moment to edit your original post or reply to this one.

Attached stack trace. Also, uninstalled PowerShell Studio 2015 and replaced with PowerShell Studio 2014 build 4.1.75 because work.

Found the problem and it will be resolved in the next service build.

The issue is caused by the empty [Alias] attribute.

Note: This bug is still present in 2014 and may surface if you try using the Function Builder.

Ok. I'll look for the next update before installing the 2015 product again on my production machine.

Okay, installed the latest build and tried opening the file I sent with the blank Alias in a function. Opened this time, no crash. So far so good. Thanks for the quick turnaround again.
