Problems debugging in PS V2

Post by jewver »

Product: PowerShell Studio 2019 (64 Bit)
Build: v5.6.167
OS: Windows 10 Pro (64 Bit)
Build: v10.0.17763.0

I have problems debugging in PS V2 32/64 bit

For every set breakpoint I get the error message when starting in the debugger:
"Das Argument für den Parameter "Script" kann nicht überprüft werden. Das Argument ist NULL. Geben Sie einen gültigen Wert für das Argument an, und führen Sie den Befehl erneut aus." (The argument for the script parameter can not be validated, the argument is NULL ...)
The breakpoints are then ignored during execution.

The ExecutionContext.SessionState.LanguageMode is Full Language

For comparison: In PS V5 I get a message for each breakpoint at startup:
"Zeilenhaltepunkt bei "D:\dev\temp\test.Run.ps1:54", etc
and debugging works fine.

thank you

Thanks for reporting the issue.
The issue has been sent to the proper place for evaluation and correction. When a fix is issued with a service build, it will be listed in the change log.

Sorry, not at the moment. The code in question is about as old as PowerShell V2 and always worked. Some recent change in either PowerShell or the .NET framework broke it, at least that is our theory. So we have the fix in QA at this time and are testing all V2 debugging functionality to make sure nothing else was affected. Unfortunately that means I have no time line at the moment.

Please try the latest build of PowerShell Studio (5.6.169) and let us know if the behavior persists.

I tested the new release and the V2.0 debugging works fine again.
Many thanks for the quick processing.
