Please offer an non-MRU-Tab Switching solution!

Hello

The PowerShell Studio enforces to use the MRU Tab Switching - even the "Document Selector" Dialog is not representing the user selected Tabs order :-[

The MRU Tab Switching is useful to work with 2 or 3 Files.
At the latest when 5 or more files are open, it's a nightmare.
Then, it's much more useful if the IDE allows switching tabs based on the user selected tabs order, which are e.g. ordered from high-level to low-level code and therefore, we can blindly switch between them. This is very fast and useful!

We are pretty sure that the (despite complaint still undocumented) key combination Ctrl PgUp / PgDn allowed switching the Tabs in the user selected order, but it doesn't work anymore.

Please finally offer to enable / disable MRU Tab switching.
If the MRU Tab switching is disabled, then the "Document Selector" Dialog should list the Files in the order of the Tabs, too.

Thanks a lot,
kind regards,
Jahoschua

Hello Jahoschua,

You can disable the document selector in Option->General:
Show the doucment selector when navigating tabs.png
Show the doucment selector when navigating tabs.png (43.15 KiB) Viewed 2832 times

Then you should be able press [Tab + Ctrl] and [Tab + Shift + Ctrl] to navigate the tabs without the dialog.

Thank you, David, for your help!,
but the real issue is that Sapien PowerShell Studio does not offer a way to disable the MRU Tab switching behavior.

For example
  • if the 1st Tab is active and we press Ctrl+Tab two times, then we expect that the 3rd Tab is activated
  • if we now press Ctrl+Shift+Tab once, then the 2nd Tab gets active (and not the 1st Tab as MRU tab switching is doing).
The MRU tab switching is nice if a user works e.g. up to 5 Tabs,
but if there are 10 or more open Tabs, then it's very tedious.

Hiding the Document Selector Dialog does not change the MRU Tab switching behavior.

Thanks a lot, kind regards,
Jahoschua
