CacheBuilder

Post by John9241 »

Product, version and build:
PowerShell Studio 2018 v5.5.153
32 or 64 bit version of product:
64-bit
Operating system:
32 or 64 bit OS:
64-bit

I know it's archaic but we have old embedded systems in our environment with WinXP and Win7 32-bit until we complete a refresh. I'm having issues on these systems with a 32-bit compiled script running indicating "The system cannot execute the specified program". I'd guess that it's CLR2 causing the issue?

I read the rather old blog entry about using CacheBuilder from 2012 and thought I'd see if running that on one of these systems would solve my issue. The problem is that when I execute ".\CacheExport2018\CacheExport.exe" or ".\CacheExport2018\CacheBuilder32\CacheBuilder.exe", it indicates that it's not a valid Win32 application. I looked on my Win10 task manager and both show 32 bit for the platform when executed.

What am I missing for the CacheBuilder or, the bigger question, if I get this captured, will it still be an issue? I also tried RegisterControls.exe but I didn't see where that changed anything with the PS1 or EXE script, again, part of that old article.

Are you referring to Packaged script executables or the CacheBuilder? These are two different things.

The CacheBuilder used to cache cmdlet information for the editor’s syntax coloring and PrimalSense.

The PowerShell Studio IDE itself doesn’t support Windows XP, but you probably can run a V2 script executables on a Windows XP machine as long as it has PowerShell V2 and .NET 3.5 installed.
