PS2016 and VMware PowerCLI 6.3 R1

Post by arjanbroeke » Wed Oct 26, 2016 2:16 am

Product, version and build: PowerShell Studio 2016, 5.2.129
(*** Please do not write "latest" as a version, specify a version number ***)
32 or 64 bit version of product: 64-bit
Operating system: Windows 10
32 or 64 bit OS: 64-bit
PowerShell Version: 5

I'm trying to get the new version of VMware PowerCli working again but can't manage it (searched the forum and tried all the the given solutions).
I've tried:
- Clearing the PresetCacheV5 folder and rebuild the cache
- Removed the PowerCli, cleared the cache, reinstalled the PowerCLI 6.3R1 and rebuild the cache.
- Tried copying the "vSphere PowerCLI" folder to the "Program Files\WindowsPowershell\Modules" folder and rebuild the cache.

- Tried using the Add-PSSnapin and Import-Module but without any luck

I notice that when I do Get-Modules -ListAvailable that there is nothing exported from these modules.
Name                          Version ExportedCommands
----                          ------- ----------------
VMware.VimAutomation.Cis.Core 6.0.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.Cloud    6.3.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.Common   6.3.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.Core     6.3.0.0 {[HookGetViewAutoCompleter, HookGetViewAutoCompleter]}
VMware.VimAutomation.HA       6.0.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.License  1.0.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.PCloud   6.0.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.SDK      6.3.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.Storage  6.0.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.Vds      6.3.0.0 {}
VMware.VimAutomation.vROps    6.3.0.0 {}
VMware.VumAutomation          6.0.0.0 {}
Also noticed that the modules are empty in the Object Browser:

What ever I try I can't get my PS2016 working anymore with the VMware PowerCLI :?

Please advise.

Cheers,
Arjan

We never recommend deleting the Preset cache folders.

Please try reinstalling the software to restore the cache. Then let PowerShell Studio rebuild the cache when it run for the first time after the install. If the modules are still empty after the caching process, we can provide you with a script that will generate the necessary files.
