Error Creating Directory During Install

Post by ecorreale »

The following error is generated during installation. The Directory H:ecorreale already exists and can not be changed because it is a system directory.

Error Creating Directory During Install

Post by davidc »

As you alluded to, it looks like a permissions error. Please answer the following questions, so that we may assist you further:

What OS are you running?
Are you installing PrimalScript on a network drive (H:)? If so, can you post the installation path you are using when running the installer?

Thank you

David

As David asked, is this the installation path (H:ecorreale) you specified?

Error Creating Directory During Install

Post by ecorreale »

My bad...I didn't read the entire question.

My OS is WIndows 2003 Server SP2.
The install file is being run from C:PrimalScript2009.exe
The installation path is the application default (see image below)
H: is not a network drive, it's a RAID array on my local system. The My Documents directory is stored on the array at H:ecorrealeMy Documents. This is why the path H:ecorreale is considered a system folder by the OS.

This appears to be a common issue with Windows installer if you redirect My documents for all users.
As far as I can tell from various windows installer forums, you must exclude the installer account from that redirection.

You're the best!I ran the installer as the local machine administrator (an account that does not have any My Document folder redirection) and the installer ran without error. Thanks

I'd like to add that I've been using Primal Script for nearly 10 years and it is by far my favorite script editing tool!!
