[Primal Forms CE] Error System.Exception when opening .pff

Post by lepiero »

Hello all,

I have created a form with PrimalForms CE and it used to work fine until today where I got an error message trying to open the 2 projects .PFF I have created.
PrimalForms opens but instead of my form I have a line at the top of the window (where should appear my form):

"System.Exception: Components must have a name at (String name) at (component component..." and a lot of things after this!

Same issue on both files but new ones open with no problem. I reinstalled the application... same problem.

I am on Windows 7 64bits (I know the CE version of primalforms is for 32bits...).

I exported it as .ps1 (before this problem) but primalforms is an easier and quicker way to modify it. If anyone could help me recover my form... that would be great! Thank you!

It sounds like the pff file got corrupted. PrimalForms CE does not have the recover data like PowerShell Studio does, so there is no way to recreate the pff from the ps1 file other then manually recreating the file.

Unfortunately this is a perfect example of where a backup or a versioning system would save the day.

I tell you what, if you can, zip the pff and attached it to this thread and I will take a look to see if it is a easy fix.

Thank you for your answer and your proposal but the form was not so complicated that I could not do it again. If there was a simple way to get it back that would have been better (laziness?) but I think I can do without it.

From now on I will be more serious concerning backups!
