Re: debugging hang on AD directory seacher

Looks like support cant work it out either.
Must be some weird group policy hardening setting.
I would have thought that good old adsisearcher was so benign...

Anyways - I've rewritten the AD bit to use adfind (from joeware) and all is well..

Re: debugger hangs on adsisearcher

Thanks.
How do you run a command before displaying the form?
The command in question is actually in the load event.
I have never heard of the jobtracker control set...

Re: Newline in tooltip control

Thanks.
I also discovered that you cannot set that tootltip text directly in the controls properties.
You have to use the settooltip method.

Newline in tooltip control

Hi,
According to: https://www.sapien.com/blog/2014/01/30/ ... p-control/
..all I need do for a new line in my tooltip is add a backtick n (`n).
I have done that on a tooltip and it does not generate a newline and simply display the text `n.
What am I missing please?
Thanks
David

Re: debugger hangs on adsisearcher

The ldapfilter is '(samaccountname=test1)'.
I have run the debugger and there are no entries generated in the eventlog.

Re: debugging hang on AD directory seacher

I thought it might have something to do with :
$ExecutionContext.SessionState.LanguageMode
but when I run that in the console it says FullLanguage.

Re: debugging hang on AD directory seacher

Yeh - its strange.
If I just highlight the code and select 'run selection in console' it works fine.
If I compile it into an exe and run it it doesnt work and neither does debugging.

debugging hang on AD directory seacher

Greetings,

I have a line of code that goes something like:
$search = new-object System.directoryservices.directorysearcher
When I use the debugger and go through my code line by line, I get to this line and press F11 and it just hangs.
Any ideas why?
Thanks
David

Re: Displaying a modal form

Thanks for that. DLLs are way beyond my ability Im afraid. I think Ill stick to the timer and make it really short. If they dont press the button within 5 seconds, Ill force a logoff. We are not really expecting people to be malicious enough to try and launch task manager to kill the app within 5 se...
