Some folks wandered by our booth and after realizing that some of our products involve editing scripts of various languages reacted with statements like: “I use notepad, it works fine”, “Notepad is just on every machine” or “What would you do that Notepad can’t do.?” Others bowed their head almost in shame while admitting that they use notepad.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with using notepad if you have nothing else available, you make do with what you have.
How much more of a sophisticated editor on top of just plain Notepad you need is for you to decide of course.
You can try out our free PrimalPad, which us just a single executable and requires no installation, just like notepad. The syntax coloring alone makes your editing a lot less error prone.
You can use it with VBScript, JScript and PowerShell and, of course, plain old text files too.
Just try it, come on, it’s FREE.
Interesting. But what does it offer on top of PowerShell ISE, which is on every computer we have powerShell installed on?
Just curious.
Cheers,
Rick
If you can live with the strange encoding enforced by the ISE and you only use PowerShell, you are fine.
