System Requirements

You’re expected to bring your own laptop. It needs to be running Windows 2000 or later, and must have a USB 2.0 (high-speed) port, an Ethernet port, a DVD-ROM capable of reading dual-layer discs (which most movies are), and a screen resolution of at least1024x768 (bigger is better). It must have at least 20GB of free disk space, and should have a minimum of 750MB of memory – although 1GB or more is strongly recommended. If you’re running Windows Vista, we recommend 1.5GB or more of memory. You must have local Administrator privileges on the computer, and you must be able to install and run new applications. Virtual machine images are provided in VMWare ACE format – you will not need to install any software prior to class; everything is provided in-class. We cannot provide in-class technical support for your laptop. Note that our classes do not include in-room Internet connectivity and we do not permit the use of any wireless networks which happen to be available, nor do we permit the use of cell modems during class.

Prohibited Items and Activities

SPECIAL FORCES training is fast-paced and intense. To keep things on schedule, and to comply with local laws, the following are prohibited in the classroom:

  • The use of cellular devices, including phones, cell modems, and Blackberries
You will be asked to turn these devices OFF or to SILENT MODE and to keep them put away while class is in session.
  • Smoking
  • E-mail software, Web browsers, or other distractions

These items may be used during designated breaks. However, keep in mind that lunches are working lunches, and these items remain prohibited during that time.
