Sometime today, the code for PrimalScript 2007 will “freeze,” meaning the developers have to check everything in up at SAPIEN World Headquarters, I can start working on the new edition of PrimalScript 2007: TFM, and we can start taking screen shots and whatnot for the Web site. We’ll be bringing you some of the new bling by way of blog posts in the coming weeks, as PrimalScript 2007 makes its way to manufacturing, wraps up its last few bugs (big thanks to all of our beta testers, by the by), and makes its way into your hot little hands.
You may not have noticed, but we’ve been doing a ton of upgrading on the back-end to get ready for this: I’ve recently upgraded the forums software at ScriptingAnswers.com, and the tech support forums at www.SAPIEN.com also got the new software. It’s a bit easier to use and fixes some really annoying “features” from the old version :). PrimalScript.com itself got a big facelift a ‘ways back, with the intention of making PrimalScript 2007 a bit easier to launch when the time comes. We’ve also overhauled our product registration system (it’s way easy), and installed a “My Downloads” page (www.primalscript.com/register/download.asp) where you can log in and get updates for every SAPIEN product you’ve registered.
By the way… if you never registered your PrimalScript software, now would be a really good time to do so. Use the “register product” link from the “Help” menu right within PrimalScript. Why? Well, for one, if you’re entitled to a free upgrade to PrimalScript 2007, you’ll only get one if you registered your current version. And, once upgrade pricing is announced, you’ll be notified only if you’ve registered. And heaven help us if the marketing people decide to do some zany midnight sale or something… again, only registered customers are in the know. Plus, registering gets you into our tech support forums, where speedy replies are a standard feature. Get the hint? Register your product!!!!!
And stay tuned… PrimalScript 2007 is frosty, and it’ll be coming your way before you realize it!
Hi, I am curious about the new features of PrimalScript 2007.
Is "Collapsible Code" included?
If you are referring to the persistent fold region, yes that is in PrimalScript 2007. You can select a block of code, click the Create Region button and the code block can be collapsed and expanded by clicking the +/- icon. This is a great way for hiding large blocks of code in longer scripts when editing. The code block regions don’t affect script execution but are designed to help you manage and edit longer scripts.
We’ll be writing about other new features next week.
